Day 3, Saturday, December 30, 2006

38 in Gordonsville, Tn this morning. Clear and starry last night and started off as a beautiful day today, but soon clouded over and shortly after started to rain. And rain it did! All day and still pouring down when we went to bed. But it was warm – mid 60’s. Did the “fix” to the Brake Buddy by running power directly from the CR-V battery to the Brake Buddy instead of using the car’s cigarette lighter socket, and did a temporary “fix” to the Wilson Trucker Antenna giving us a good strong cell phone signal even in remote areas. Got back on the Natchez Trace Parkway and drove 264 miles to Holmes County State Park. It’s off the Trace on I-55 just north of Jackson outside the town of Goodman. Not a great distance but Parkway speed limit is 50mph, and allowing for dog stops (no sight seeing or walks today due to rain), gas refill, and groceries in Tupelo, we did not get to the park until 6:30 – well after dark and in pouring rain. That’s it for today. Going into Natchez tomorrow for NYE! Natchez State Park is just outside of town and that is our goal for a two or three night stay. Towing the CR-V with us we are now able to explore the areas we visit. Looking forward to seeing historic Natchez on this trip.
