Day 12, Monday, January 8, 2007

46 this morning and clear in New Orleans.

Looks like sunny weather for at least the next three days but cooling off to the 60's for highs. Drove about 200 miles to Sam Houston Jones State Park just north of Lake Charles, La. Got in about 4:30, set up, and did a 45 minute walk around the park. We are surrounded by wetlands here. Don't want to get off the path in this park!

I wish there was more to talk about so far on this trip, but nothing really (other than New Orleans and Natchez) is of much interest until we reach the SouthWest - our destination. It's never going to be like Alaska for scenery, but warm weather and interesting State & National Parks are our goal. Just being on the road and having the freedom to go when and where we want to is the great value of this (or any) trip we've made. Thanks for checking in on us. And remember, we really appreciate your comments.
