Day 13,Tuesday, Janurary 9, 2007

37 this morning at Sam Houston Jones.

Got an earlier start than normal, about 9:45, and drove 180 miles to Galveston Island State Park. Wanted to get to the Gulf as soon as possible. Good thing we got an early start because only 4 sites available when we arrived and they all were gone before I completed paperwork for our stay. This park is great! Right on the beach. Big campsites, fires allowed, dogs allowed on the beach, close to great restaurants, miles of walking trails, and more. Life is good and all for $15.00 per night! Sunny and about 67 today.

I signed up for 3 nights and if weather holds out we might stay more. Our next destination is Mustang Island State Park outside of Corpus Christi. But that's subject to change. And that is what is so great about this traveling - we can just go when and where! The two girls really got a good work-out this afternoon on the beach including a swim. They went "nuts" off leash with miles of beach and water to splash in and out of. At home, we think of Kroger's as a "low class" chain grocery. Here in Texas, they have Kroger "Signature" stores that offer first class shopping that even the new Martins in Granger can not compare with. Galveston is a nice area. And camping right on the gulf shore is "priceless".

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fixed the problem of not being able to add comments to our blog (I think). Please try again. We really, really, like to know who is reading our blog and knowing what you think and what is new with you. We want to know what is going on in your lives too!

Yep, you fixed it - thanks! Sounds like the campground you're at is great - wish I could be there. Just came back from vacation a week ago, but already need another! Have fun! Love, Mandy
