Day 43, Thursday, Feburary 8, 2007
Well, we never went to Yuma.
We are at Alamo Lake, Az and it's 48 this morning.
Yuma didn't have anything we were interested in other than its warm weather and proximity to the Mexican border. What we really wanted was to get on water, namely the reservoir behind the Imperial Dam about 20 miles north of Yuma. Just before leaving Lake Havasu we talked to people who had just come from Yuma and said there was nothing there other than the great weather. And, we could only find one RV Park in the Imperial Dam area and it was going to be $50 - $75 per day. So we headed for Alamo Lake.
Alamo Lake is 50 miles east of Lake Havasu (as the crow flies) but about 150 miles by road. We got lucky and were able to pull into the last available space with water and electricity. Lots of room to camp here without hook-ups, but we really prefer the utilities. We have cell phone service, but not Verizon so no internet. It’s hot, but dry out here in the desert – we like it. Not much in the way of rain in this area for years so the lake is very low. Beautiful sunsets and a star filled night sky that is unbelievable.

I could look at these skys forever.
They leave me in awe.
It's still very cold here and we're expecting more snow. Ugh!
Love, Sister Beth
What a beautiful sunset! - Mandy
