65 this morning on Mustang Island.
Overcast and forecast is for rain. We think we'll just move on further South to Mercedes, TX and stay at an RV Park with laundry, exercise room, and close proximity to the Mexican border (so we can walk across and get real Mexican Food). Also want to watch the Colts this afternoon and the Bears tomorrow.
Drove the 175 miles to Mercedes and the RV Park is very nice. Not much of any interest here in Mercedes except for the good weather and the proximity to Mexico for great food and cheap booze. But we kind of like it. It really is a nice park - lots of friendly people from all over North America, wi-fi, superb exercise room, clean showers and laundry, clean "double concrete pads" with grass around the sites, washing of vehicles allowed, and gated entry/exit with 24 hour security. Easy to understand why so many people RV here all winter. Oh, and they have a golf course here at the RV Park. Almost everyone who spends the winter here has a golf cart. Price is $36.00 per night. With their monthly rates you could spend the winter here for about $2000.00. Not bad compared to the cost of a Florida condo with about the same weather but none of the traffic.
No, we are not staying. We love to travel too much to stay put for long, but this is not bad. Temperature today was in the low 80's and it never rained as forecasted.
