Day 30, Friday, January 26, 2007

30 this morning north of Tucson.

We could have stayed here longer - nice park and good weather (except for the morning freezes) - but had to get an oil change for BlueBoy about 17 miles north. Decided to just keep going.

Darren is going to be in north Scottsdale for a show so we found a Regional Park (McDowell Mountain) close by and drove there after the oil change. Only about 140 miles. Got here about three but about 5 minutes too late for the last available campsite. We got into the "overflow" lot without water or electric for the night with a promise that a spot would be available in the campground tomorrow. We dumped our holding tanks and filled our water tank and went to the overflow area. We have the 12v power for lights and water pump, propane for heat, and the generator for 120v to power the microwave and coffee maker. So it's not like we are suffering.

Made margarita's and went for a short scenic walk in the Arizona dessert with the girls. Got back around sunset and Darren pulled up to our site at about the same time. He surprised us by being early but it turns out he is staying only about 30 minutes away. We had a drink or two and cooked swordfish on the grill. Don't remember the rest!
